There are many benefits to the Presto Music streaming service including an extensive catalogue of 200,000 classical and jazz albums; over 70,000 digital booklets, for the collector in all of us; reviews and guides to the best new releases; daily articles from our team of music experts; curated playlists to help you make new discoveries; fairer remuneration for artists & composers with our pay-per-second model; the ability to create your own collections of albums, composers, artists & labels; Hi-Res Audio and connectivity with 24-bit 192 kHz via our desktop app, dedicated streamer, or any BluOS enabled device.

Can I listen to pre-release tracks on your streaming service?

Labels increasingly allow one or more tracks to be listened to in advance of the release date of the whole album. You’ll find these now on the home page (and elsewhere) with the ‘coming soon’ sash on the corner of the cover. If you like what you hear, you can add the album to your collection to make it easy to find once the official release date arrives.

Can I create my own playlists on the streaming service?

We plan to add this facility for users to create their own playlists, later in 2024.

Can I listen to the streaming service offline, when not connected to the internet?

Yes, you can listen to our streaming service offline when on a mobile device. Simply click on "Save Offline". Once saved, you will find your saved album within "Collection".

You can access your purchased items by going to Collection > Purchased.

Does the streaming service have Hi-Fi integrations?

Many of our customers have nice Hi-Fi set-ups at home which they use for CDs and downloads, and one of the challenges with a streaming service is being able to use it seamlessly with an existing Hi-Fi set-up. Whilst Airplay and Bluetooth can sometimes help, they don’t work with all Hi-Fi set-ups and, in any case, are not a perfect solution, so we’ve started work with several different manufacturers to deliver truly integrated compatibility. Realistically, this is going to take some time. However, if you are a BluOS user you will now find a custom integration to Presto Music within the BluOS Controller Apps. For those not already familiar with BluOS, it is a system which allows certain wireless speakers and streamers to function independently or add streaming functionality to an existing Hi-Fi set-up, with their most popular device being the Node streamer. BluOS is the only system to fully support both multi-room and Hi-Res audio streaming. A good starting place for more information is: bluesound

Can I listen to Presto Music on my Sonos system?

Can I connect the Presto streaming service to my Hi-Fi system?

Connection to audio speakers and third party speakers is a high priority for us, and we are working towards a number of solutions. At present, our service will connect wired from your computer, mobile device and tablet to an audio system or Airplay and Bluetooth.

Are composers and musicians fairly remunerated through the Presto Music streaming service?

With our new streaming service, we move away from the pay-per-track model adopted by all the major streaming services and instead use a pay-per-second model. Classical pieces vary enormously in length, with a Mahler Symphony often racking up over an hour for just 4 ‘tracks’ (movements) whereas a recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations would generally cover 33 tracks in under an hour. This means that on other services a single listen to the Bach album generates more than eight times the revenue than a listen to the Mahler Symphony. Furthermore, on the major streaming services, classical and jazz listening is also diluted by other genres. We suspect that the average classical and jazz listener will often make specific time to listen to music, sitting down and focussing on what they are hearing, and as such they’ll listen to a lot less music during the day than a typical pop or casual listener who may choose a playlist and press play first thing in the morning, and then leave it running all day until they go to bed at night. By focussing on just classical and jazz we avoid this dilution problem, and ensure that the labels, composers and musicians receive their fair share of revenues.
