Supertrain Records is proud to present the new album THE MASS by celebrated Irish composer Patrick Cassidy. Known equally well for his film scores and concert works, with his new large-scale album THE MASS is performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and London Voices under the baton of conductor Ben Parry.
Patrick Cassidy scored a hit in the year 2001 when his aria ‘Vide Cor Meum’ was used in the film HANNIBAL starring Anthony Hopkins. ‘Vide Cor Meum’ has received millions of streams and has been recorded many times over. In the realm of concert music his grand oratorios include Children of Lir which was recorded by the London Symphony and remained No.1 on the Irish Classical charts for over a year), Deirdre of the Sorrows, and Famine Remembrance which was performed at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.
Hailed by many as the ‘National Composer of Ireland,’ Cassidy’s recent film scores include 1916 about the Irish revolution, and a stunning score to the film Calvary starring Brendan Gleeson, but his recent artistic endeavors drove him to compose a full scale mass sung in Latin and dedicated to the memory of his father, Colm Cassidy, to whom he made a promise long ago that he would someday compose a Mass.
